Which tags actually matter

The title is the most important on-page element you control: it is the main clickable line in search results and a strong relevance signal. The meta description does not affect rankings, but it often becomes the snippet text, so it affects clicks. Google rewrites both when it thinks the page is better described another way, usually because they don't match the content.

Canonical tells search engines which URL is the main version when the same content is reachable at several addresses. Open Graph and Twitter tags control how your link looks when shared on WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Facebook and X. Meta keywords are not included because no major search engine uses them.
